How to Play (TL;DR Ver.):
(For a more detailed explanation, please look at NOTES in the PPTX file)
- Make groups
- All teams answer the question/only one team answers the question
- When the (fastest) team completes the question, they can receive either 1, 2, or 3 castles to build their territory
- If they want to take over an enemy's territory, they have to janken
- If they win, they get to claim it
- If they lose, nothing happens. (if they have “extra” castles left, they can try again or claim another [empty] territory)
- Team with the most claimed territories wins
NOTE: The x number of castles they get means the x number of chances to janken battle or claim an empty territory
Difference between Ver. A and B:
Version A:
- All the territories are unclaimed (blank)
- Teams start from scratch to build their territory
Version B:
- Each team have 5 pre-claimed territories
Game Variations:
No 1: ALT vs Students
- Before you start the game, claim about x prefectures (about 10-15) and the students have to janken battle with you if they want to claim your territory
- I normally play this at my mountain schools or in special need classes
No 2: 1 vs 1 Warmup
- Split the class into 2 and they have to battle against each other
- Similar to a typical Splatoon match, the team that colours the most territory wins.
No 3: Pick a Card
- Instead of having pre-determined castle slides (slides 42-62), you can have number cards where students come to the front and randomly choose a card
- Depending on the number on the card, that is how many castles they can claim
No 4: Colour Japan
- The class/6 teams work together to colour Japan in red, orange, yellow, etc. The goal is either to try colour all of Japan in one colour or a mixture of colours.
- Example dialogue:
YOU: What number do you want?
STUDENT: Number 14, please. / I want Number 14, please.
YOU: What colour do you want?
STUDENT: Green, please. / I want green, please.
