Simple lesson I did with SHS for my self-introduction, but tbh it could be used as a normal lesson to practice small talk.
Like BINGO. each student gets a sheet, fills it in with numbers (1-40), get 4 in a row call BINGO. EZ
But this ones a lil different, its got a twist...
After calling the number, Reveal the matching question -> ALT says answer -> Students in pairs have 'X' seconds each to answer the question. (I did 20 seconds each) -> Then, move on to next question.
I used https://pickerwheel.com/ to choose a random number from 1 - 40. (click "hide choice" to gradually remove numbers)
and just 'alt+TAB'ed to switch between Chrome and PP. (If you exit the PP, all the faded numbers on 'slide 7' will reset.
Also, click on the '<--' arrow on each 'question slide' to return to 'slide 7', otherwise the faded numbers, you guessed it, will reset.)
I did 2 rounds. took about 40 min. 2nd round is usually quicker because I just use the leftover numbers from round 1, doing this way also avoids getting the same questions twice. Its also fun to make students swap partners between rounds.
I would also recommend this as one of the first lessons of the school year, because gets kids nice n comfy talking with new classmates, and the questions are pretty ez, so its not intimidating at all. (IMO)
Lastly, give the kids a prize, hypes them up, and lets face it, they deserve it. Japanese schools are way to difficult lol.
