[This is inspired by 'Present perfect connect 4' by Tina_1.]
Set up:
Print and laminate 1 A3 board for each pair (so they can erase and play again).
Prepare enough whiteboard pens and erasers for 1 for each pair.
Print 1 worksheet for each student.
Objective:
Students must get four in a row (horizontal, vertical, diagonal) to win.
Students take a space by saying a sentence, for example: "Doraemon has been playing soccer since last week."
Method:
Explain the rules of Connect Four (I might make a PowerPoint for this, as some students really didn't understand and thought it was like noughts and crosses!).
Demonstrate how to play with your JTE - put a gameboard on the blackboard and demonstrate a few turns.
Put the students into pairs.
Play janken to start.
Give them 10 - 15 minutues to play.
Then, collect the boards and hand out the worksheets.
On the worsheet there are 8 empty slots for students to write their own sentences. Give them as much time as they need to write, I know some clesses take longer than others.
When finished, students can play again with their own gameboards and sentences.
If there's time, give a sticker to the winner in each pair.
If you want, you could edit this activity for practicing any grammar points.
((For formatting, I use: 'Antique Olive Compact' or 'Segoe UI Black' for titles, and 'UD デジタル UK-R' for body text.))
((Be aware: I always put the month in the top corner of my worksheets, please check it is the correct month!))
Thank you! Could you please upload the files in pdf format?
@Miki248 Done! Hope you enjoy the activity :)
instead of laminating and using markers. I put it on loilo and send it to the students ipads, this way they can use many times and less waste of lamination and time.
@ramsey This is a great idea to save time. I would do the same, only my school doesn't have LoiLo and the students don't have their own devices.
