OVERVIEW
Students use shapes to create characters and then try to draw each other's characters using "Does~?" questions!
PREPARATION
Students will all need a copy of the worksheet!
PROCEDURE
1. I used the PowerPoint as an example. If you want to, you can point the TV at the students and then get the JTE to ask you questions to draw the character on the board (JTE can't see the screen!).
2. Give all of the students a worksheet and explain that they each need to draw a character, choosing A or B for each trait. (Head, eyes, mouth, hair, body). Make sure they don't show each other their drawings!
3. Put them into pairs and get them to ask each other "Does your character have A/B?" questions and draw the results in the boxes below!
Example:
Student A: Does your character have a square head?
Student B: Yes, it does!
student A draws a square on their paper
NOTES
- After each round, my JTE would get the kids to draw a new original character which I think they really enjoyed.
- We ended up using the entire period for this, they folded their papers to draw a 4th friend's character!
- The students seemed to really like this :) They drew so many funny characters.
- At the very end, if there were any volunteers we'd get some kids to draw on the board in pairs.
- You might need to review shapes at the start if they haven't practiced them for a while!
