Objective:
To practice/familiarize students with using gerunds as a subject.
Set up:
Give each team one worksheet, each turn they should swap writers.
(after class, I collect the worksheets and photocopy them so that each team member will have a copy)
Alternatively, give each team a white board and marker pen each to write their answers.
Method:
Put students into groups - I usually do groups of 4.
Display the PPT, and walk the students through the rules.
They will see two pictures (emoji's) and a sentence with many empty spaces. They need to use the pictures as hints to complete the sentence.
If their team is the first to show the correct answer, they get 2pts. If they are 2nd and so on, they get 1pt.
Students should bring their worksheet to you to check. If it's incorrect you can send them away to try again.
Play!
I usually say they have 1 minute to answer, but as the questions get more difficult I give them more time.
At the end, ask how many points. Winning team gets stickers!
The small bird gif in the top right has a hyperlink straight to the 'Finish!' slide.
I used emoji's from this website: https://emojipedia.org/
((For formatting, I use: 'Antique Olive Compact' or 'Segoe UI Black' for titles, and 'UD デジタル UK-R' for body text.))
