I split this activity over two class periods.
To prepare, print enough "My Town" map maker worksheets for each student to have one. The second sheet contains town facilities in boxes; there are two sets of them per sheet, so you need half as many sheets as there are students, and cut the sheets in half before class. The 書く練習プリント can be either a full A3 page or a front and back A4 page. Print one per student.
First:
Students get a half-sheet of buildings/places in town and a "My Town" worksheet. They can cut out the buildings/places they want to use and paste them on the squares on their My Town worksheet. I let each student make up to two original facilities (arcades and zoos are both common). Make sure they write the place they want to give directions to in the "Where is the ______?" blank.
Second:
Now they get the A3 書く練習プリント (writing practice worksheet). There is more writing on this one than past writing assignments, but if students use the "Hint Corner," most can do it. Just make sure to tell them that they need to write directions to the place they chose on the My Town worksheet.
