(not sure on the difference between modal and auxiliary verbs - files are named 'auxiliary')
Objective:
Students practice using the correct modal verb, based on their randomly chosen situation.
Set up:
Print and cut up the situation cards.
Print enough worksheets for 1 per group (they group write).
Method:
Put the students into groups of 4.
Spread the cards over the teacher's desk at the front of class.
Show the PPT and explain the activity.
One person from each team should come to the front and select a card.
Return to their groups.
They answer the question "What should you do [situation card]?"
They have to write 4 sentences about the situation card.
One sentence for each modal verb.
They can of course work together and I encourage them to swap writers each turn.
Once they're finished with a card, they should get their sentences checked (ALT/JTE) before the next student goes to get a new situation card.
(return the old one, take a new one)
At the end of the time limit or end of class, ask how many finished situations they have.
Winning team, of course, gets stickers.
There is space for them to do 6 situations, but most groups will only complete 3-5.
Inspired by [mssamansa]'s 'What Should You Do?' activity.
((For formatting, I use: 'Antique Olive Compact' or 'Segoe UI Black' for titles, and 'UD デジタル UK-R' for body text.))
Good game I will be using, but I would say that these are not auxiliary verbs, but more of modal verbs, which often are taught in the same lessons (at least in my SHS books)
@James Ikuei Thank you. I'm not acutually sure what the difference is, but I have changed it to 'modal verbs'. Either way, the activity can be used!
