Objective:
- Practice common adjectives
- Exchange seasonal cards with friends and REACT!
Set up:
Login to Kahoot!
Print the worksheets and cut in half.
Method:
Start with the Kahoot! This is to practice the adjectives and introduce them to some they might not know.
Next, open the PPT with all the adjectives you just practiced.
- You can ask if there's any they don't know and give some examples.
- I also do 'repeat after me' practice here, with the grammar 'How~!'
- On the next slide is the activity introduction.
Put them into small groups (4/5 students).
Hand out the worksheets - "I want you to make a Halloween / Christmas card for your friend!"
On the PPT show what they have to write:
- who the card is for
- a drawing of their seasonal gift
- who the card is from
So that no student is left out, I tell them that the card is for the person sitting to their left.
Give them some time to draw their gift.
Then it's reaction time!
Demonstrate with your JTE and make sure to do BIG reactions.
Tell the students that the best, most expressive, most BIGGEST reactions will get a special sticker - I usually buy some seasonal flake stickers from Daiso (or the ￥100 store of your choice) to give to students...and I usually end up giving one to everyone. Depending on your class, students can get very excitable.
