NOTE
I haven't updated or used this activity in awhile. If you are going to use it you should take a good look first for dated cultural references and stuff that doesn't suit the new teacher strategies. If nothing else I hope these older materials will give you some ideas for your own materials.
The Quiz Game. This is a standard 'typhoon game' type activity. A type of activity I don't really use much or at all these days. I find Race and Speak or Write and Race allows students more chances to participate. However some teachers still like these traditional activities so I've kept this up.
Make Groups and select order. The first student in each group should stand up.
Click on the arrow button to see the question. The students raise their hands to try and answer the question. I usually accept short answers.
Once answered click on the arrow again to show the answer. Have everyone repeat the answer. Then click again to make it vanish. At this point the student selects a square to get points for their team.
The random points range from 1 to 5 as well as a few special points. You can decide what you want the special points to mean. Typically SUN doubles points, TYPHOON switches points with another team, SNOW wipes out points and HAPPY DANCE means everyone gets points.
Then 1st student sits down and second student stands up. Click on arrow again to continue the quiz.
FOLLOW UP ACTIVITIES
Relative Jankan is a pair activity if you think the students need more pattern practice. They play jankan and the winner moves two spaces and makes a sentence and the loser moves one space and makes a sentence.
The Japan Stuff is a writing activity for groups, pairs or individuals. You give them a topic such as Karaoke and they write two sentences about it. One should have a relative pronoun and bring the sentences to a teacher. If okay give them the next topic. I usually give them stickers as rewards for completing a set number of questions depending on how much time they have.
