Here are all 3 Take a break activities. I am not sure if the PowerPoint version will look the same as the PDF version, I just use them on Canva.
*While these are for this textbook, I do think they can be used on their own as well for writing and speaking practice.
Take a Break 1
Presentation: Make a 4 panel comic!
Students will have to make a four panel comic using vocabulary words you pick from their chapter. It don't have to be long sentences, just to get them to use the words. (Make sure to delete my blue slides, they are an example for you. Please make your own examples for your students :) )
The worksheet is meant to be cut into strips, not to give a student a page of 5. You can stick this on your worksheet if you also doing something else in your class period.
Take a Break 2
Presentation: Play a song!
Students have to talk about a song that they like. The presentation shows an example (Please delete my blue slide since it is an example for you), and have them tell you about the song [if you have time for that].
The worksheet is meant to be cut into halves, not to give a student a page of 2. You can stick this on your worksheet if you also doing something else in your class period.
Take a Break 3
Presentation: Talk about Food!
Students have to pick a country and a food that is popular there. The presentation has an example (Please delete my blue slide since it is an example for you), and have them tell you about the song [if you have time for that].
The worksheet is meant to be cut into halves, not to give a student a page of 2. You can stick this on your worksheet if you also doing something else in your class period.
I hope this is fun for your students and easy enough to prepare if you need it on short notice. If you want them to speak but unsure about having enough time to hear them all, have your JTE listen to half of your students.
*Feel free to change them so they match a grammar point or questions you want them to answer!
