MATERIALS NEEDED:
- MayICardGame attachment: Cut out one set of cards for each group. I found the game works better if the cards are printed on thick paper and in color.
DETAILED EXPLANATION:
- After reviewing the polite request "May I ~?" and the answers "Sure," "OK," "All right," "I'm sorry, but no," and any others deemed important, break the students up into groups and give one set of cards to each group.
- Have the students deal out the deck of cards equally to everyone.
- Any extra cards should be set aside (these cards are the "old maid").
- If the students have any pairs they can lay the pairs down in front of them.
- The students then decide who goes first and that person asks the person to their right "May I" plus what ever is written on the card they want to collect.
- If the person to the right has the card they have to answer one of the affirmative answers and hand over the card. If they don't have the card they have to answer the negative answer: "I'm sorry, but no you may not."
- That person than asks the person to their right and it goes around in a circle.
- The student with the most pairs in the end will be the winner.
VARIATIONS:
- Instead of a student asking the question to the person to their right, they can ask the question to anyone.
TIPS/CAUTIONS:
- Make sure the students are using "May I" and the answers.

There is no attachment.
Sorry about that! It looks like it missed the attachment because it was an .xls file. It should be attached now!
I opened the attachment, but there is nothing on there. It's a blank document.
