This game is to practice "I" vs "we" and also "have". I used some of the sports words from New Crown Jr. sound chant pg 20 to make sports cards. The document has 2 pages with 9 cards for a total of 18 cards, if you have more than 18 students print another copy till you have enough, it doesn't matter if there are duplicates. I have tested this out with larger (27) and smaller (7) classes, for smaller classes I would recommend stacking the deck (for example play with only 3 sports at a time and not all 7). I intentionally made it so that one sport(volleyball) does not have a pair, if you have a student that might get hurt from feeling left out avoid giving them that card. I have attached a word document and a pdf file, they are identical, but I included the word copy that way you can make/add any changes you want. The cards can be prepared simply on normal paper in black and white or if your feeling fancy in color with cardstock.
Before starting I write and practice these sentences on the board...
"What card do you have?"
"I have a (sport) card."
"We have (sport) cards."
How to play:
- Prepare the cards.
- Give each kid a card.
- kids go around and rock paper scissors.
- Winner asks first "What card do you have?".
- Loser answers "I have* ~ card." Then asks "What card do you have?".
- Winner answers the loser.
- If they are the same loser follow the winner if different they say "goodbye" and ask other people.
- After 3-5mins say "Stop!", then ask the groups what card they have and have them answer as a group.
- To play again take the cards back and give out new ones.
Have fun!
*If someone has another person following them the answer changes from "I have ~" to "We have~"
