This game is designed for students to think about numbers and currency.
Students choose a square and it gives a point value. Start with a set number of points for each team. Some of the point squares include: Steal points, everyone loses points, Lose points. That is why it is better to start with a set number of points for every team.
How to play:
Divide into as many groups as you will like. I recommend groups of 4 – 6 students. I give them something to write their answer on (paper or white boards).
Start by demonstrating how to select a box. Select any column on row 2 this will give them a positive point value (This is how many points they will earn if answered correctly.) Then select the question type by clicking on the arrow “How much...? or “How many?”. Have the students write their answers, then read out loud as a group. Correct answer gets the designated points. It is up to you if you want to do closest answer.
Lose points = wrong answers lose points
Steal points = correct answer steals points
Everyone loses = skip the questions and reset everyone to starting point value
Everyone gets points = skip the question and everyone gets X amount of points
Switch points = correct answer get to choose who they switch points with. Have them do rock-sissors-paper. If multiple winners.
DISCLAIMER: all prices are in dollars. Feel free to change. I also show students about how much the exchange rate is for dollars I tell them 1dollar is about 100yen.
