I will be using this as a review rather than an introduction. You might need to spend more time on each language point before moving onto the card game if the students haven't already practiced a bit.
FIRST PART Reviews the target language 'I want to go to, eat, buy and see'. The slide show introduces each and then shows eight pictures and the students should speak out whichever is the correct phrase. My classes are small and this is a review so I don't need to spend much time on this. In a bigger class or if it's more of an introduction than a review you might want to spend more time on this so you could use the ACE, ONE, TWO, THREE and FOUR from a deck cards. Put the students into groups and then show the picture. One member from each group could rush to a teacher with the answer and get points based on the card the pulled for their group. Record the points on the board and then do an answer check once each group has answered before moving onto the next picture.
SECOND PART is pretty much the same as above but reviews the 'Why' responses. 'Because it's beautiful, fun, delicous or great.' Basically the same but you can also ask or just click one more time to show a possible 'I want to...' Alternate ones are certainly possibile.
THIRD PART
The card game. This takes preparation. The slide show gives a demonstration of the card game. You speak the sentence based on the picture of the front of the card and then flip it over (Or click it on the slide) and this reveals an animal. Speak the sentence based on another card and flip it too (or click it) and if the animals match you've made a pair. On the slide show you can remove the pair by clicking the small animal shadow on the bottom. After demonstrating hand out each group a set of cards and let them play. Your call whether a student continues after they get a pair or whether the game moves onto the next student. I generally have the game move onto the next student. After ten minutes whoever has the most pairs is the winner in the group. For a greater challenge students can say 'I want to...' as well as the reason why 'It's...'
FINAL PART
Speaking time. The students can sit in pairs and talk about where they want to go, what they want to do and why.
PREPARATION
So much preparation. You need to cut out a set for each group, glue the animal cards to random action cards and then ideally laminate those and cut them out again. On each card there is a number one. This is for managing sets. After I print out one set I use CTRL H and switch all the 1 to 2. Then print and repeat switching all the 2 to 3.
