This is an updated version of the same kind of simple matching I game I posted earlier, with some improvements. This version takes less class time and is more fun,(IMO of course haha) and forces students to use the target vocabulary.
The way I played:
In groups, students choose a school event (blue tile) and an adjective (pink tile), and try to find the matching nintendo characters underneath the tiles. The group the most matches wins!
Notes:
-Ask the students to choose a blue tile first, because the sound effects are on that tile (and it just made intuitive sense to me to set it up that way).
-You can have students just say the words themselves, or to have them say "My best memory is the (school event)" and "It was (fun/great/etc.)."
Please comment and let me know if you have other ideas/improvements!
I think this is the more useful way of doing the memory game. Having the vocabulary on the surface of the card so it has to be spoken before revealing the character. I’d suggest adding a triggered vanishing animation to the characters so that after they are revealed you can clear them away. And illustrated cards with the vocabulary for the students struggling with reading.
