UPDATE JUNE 2022
I've been using versions of this last year with some of my other activities such as Halloween lessons and Christmas lessons but I'm not happy about the sound on those ones yet.
This is a just a simple warm up or speaking pattern practice. At some point I will connect it to a full lesson plan. Right now I was just asked to prepare something short.
You'll need the TV or projector, computer or tablet and bean bags for each group.
Introduce the target language. In this case the 'be going to' future tense paired with different pronouns.
Demonstrate the activity with the teacher. You click through until all the activity pictures are shown having the students say each one and then stop when Sazaeson, the time and the bomb appear. In this case try to get the students to figure out the target language 'She is going to swim tomorrow'. Then click one more time so that the bomb starts shaking and music starts playing and say the target sentence and pass the bean bag to the teacher. She says the next one 'She is going to play rugby tomorrow' and then passes it back to you and you say the next one 'She is going to play the guitar tomorrow' and so on. If you get back to swim keep going around again.
When the time limit is up the bomb will explode. Whoever has the bomb at that time loses that round. You can add some kind of 'Oh No!' penalty or just have the students keep track of how often they survive. I find they get enough of a kick out of it a penalty isn't necessary but I think it depends on the class.
Once the demo is done pass out the bean bags and click onto the next screen. I have the students in groups but I keep them sitting and not putting their desks together. This way they can see the screen better. Also encourage members help each other remember the vocabulary if some are strugggling.
Each time the bomb goes off move onto the next slide with a new character set.
There are five rounds for this version but it can easily be expanded to more rounds with additional vocabulary. The version I have here right now is meant to be a simple and fast introduction.
