One of my teachers asked for a really specific activity based on one of the textbooks, so I had to whip something up fast. This activity is the result.
What you'll need
-Printed worksheets x6
-Printed Cards x1
-Powerpoint
How do do the lesson
Begin by introducing the grammar point (I have a...) and practicing in the textbook.
Introduce the activity, students will be writing a story. They will be assigned a character, affliction (because I didn't know what else to call it) and goal.
Hand out the sheets, one per group of students.
Have all the groups randomly pick one of each of the cards (I use a box that they reach into)
Have the students write the story, and then if time remains, share it with the class!
Easy as.
Changelog
1.2
- Changed characters to all be more interesting
- Removed "am happy" from afflictions, replaced with "have a broken leg"
- Added variant script for infinitives.
Perhaps this is a more regional thing, but I am little unsure of the "have a sickness" character affliction card. Even though I know it's not an issue gramatically, personally I would have thought that "I am sick" would be the more common and natural way of talking about being or feeling generally unwell. I do love the activity and it seems like great fun, that particular phrase just doesn't strike me as something I would say naturally in everyday speech. But of course feel free to correct me.
@GaeilgeAmee I wanted to have more diverse grammar to cover both the "I have" and "I'm" angle, but in this case, I think you're right. I'll change it!
