Activity

Classmate interview "have to"

Using the question form, ask your classmates and create interesting sentences.

The statement cards only need to be printed once, but each student will need a copy of the worksheet.

Students will all start with an individual statement card. They will chose which box to write the statement in on their work sheet (any order is ok) and then ask a friend the question.
The goal is for all the boxes to be filled out. Answers can be positive or negative, it doesn't matter. They just need to create interesting sentences. At the end of the activity, they will chose their favorite sentence and tell the teacher.

Activity run through example.

Student 1's statement card: "eat rice and miso soup"

Student 1: "Do you have to eat rice and miso soup everyday?"
Student 2 (Jane): "No, I don't"

Student 1: takes notes, then gets a new statement card (either swap with other student or get from pile on teacher's desk

Repeat until all spaces are filled in on the worksheet.

At the end of the activity students chose favourite sentence:
Student 1 to teacher: "Jane doesn't have to eat rice and miso soup everyday."
