This quick PowerPoint game was used to review days of the week, verb phrases, and "when do you..."/"on..." for my junior high school 1st grade students.
First, put your students into groups. We usually play with groups of 3-5. Give each group a whiteboard and a marker. They can be in groups or remain in rows (for more social distancing). Then, review the example slide. You can go over the days of the week and "when"/"on" here. Explain the rules of the game.
Rules:
-Students will have 10 seconds to study the schedule (there is a countdown on the slide).
-When the 10 seconds is up, the schedule will be blacked out (automatic when the countdown ends). Then, they will be asked "When do you [verb phrase that appeared on the schedule]?"
-The groups can work together, but one person must write the correct answer: "On [day of the week]." Depending on the class level, you can give points based on the first group to write the correct answer and hold up their board (3 points for the first group, 2 points for the second group, etc.), or you can just give out points based on correct answers.
-There are 7 questions and they get progressively harder. The last slide (after "the end") is a blank template if you want to create your own slides.
Nice idea! will try with my students.
BTW Disneyland is one word.
This is a great activity. Thanks for saving me!
This is awesome.
I will edit with the Disneyland Correction.
Also add some when is and when does questions.
Eg. When is lunch? When does winter break start?
