What do you want for Christmas?

This worksheet`s target language is `I want` and `I`ll give`. Students will write about what they want for Christmas with reason.

This activity will allow students to talk about what they want for Christmas and what they`ll buy for their friends.

  1. Write the target language on the board. ‘I want ______________for Christmas.
  2. JTE and ALT can give their own examples. Example: I want new shoes for Christmas. I want the iPhone 14 for Christmas.
  3. Write it on the board and let students listen and repeat.
  4. Allow students to work in pairs and think about what they want for Christmas.
  5. After about 3 minutes, you can select a few students to tell the class their ideas.

Worksheet
1. Students can now write their ideas on the worksheet.
2. They must also write 1 reason why they want this thing for Christmas
3. ALT will provide example:
I want the iPhone 14 for Christmas. It takes good pictures.
I want new shoes for Christmas. I lost mine at school.

Students will stand up and share their wishes and reasons in pairs. Janken winner will read A, then after they will switch.
A: What do you want for Christmas?
B: I want a new manga for Christmas. I love reading.
Instruct the class to Kaiten Zushi and change partners. This can be done about 3-5 times.

1. Students will choose 3 of their friends/classmates that they want to buy gifts for and write about it.
2. Write the target language on board

Ill give Aimi a bag for Christmas. She loves bags.
