This is a card game that starts with the cards upside down on a table/desk. Players take turns to turn over cards that are exactly the same. If they do turn over the same pair they can go again. The words have distracting red herrings, for example there is : dog, dog and bog; or enjoy, enjoy and anjoy. Most students in Japan know this game as shinsei-suijaku. It is best to play in a group. The teacher should walk about and check that students didn't make a mistake.
To prepare you will need to cut out the cards (or get the students to do it). Depending on the paper it may be easy to see through upside down cards. You may need to use somewhat thick paper or put some bland uniform background on the reverse.

this is great. i just wanted to point out that in japanese, its shinKEIsuijaku. shinkei means nerves in japanese. fun fact, when someone is good at sports, in japanese you say "undoushinkei ga ii". which literally means they have good motor skills or reflexes. kinda funny lol
its such a fun idea to add the red herrings, thanks for sharing!
