This a powerpoint I threw together for the 2nd year students because my JTE asked me to make a powerpoint activity to explain the differences between "made of" and "made from". I added a brief explanation of these 2 new grammar points and I also added another brief explanation of "made in" and "made by", which they should have already learned at this point.
Following the review section of the powerpoint is a little multiple choice quiz. The first half is easier and it gets little more difficult in the second half. The vocab used in the quiz may be a little difficult for students at other schools so please double check it!
How you decide to do the quiz section is up to you. But what we did was split the kids into groups and give each group a whiteboard, marker, and tissue. Explain to the students that they only need to write the letter of there answer, since this quiz should go fast. When we revealed each question, I would read the question sentence, and after i was done reading, there would be a 5 second countdown before we asked the groups to reveal their boards. Once the five seconds were up, we checked each groups answers, gave a point to each group that got the answer correct, and then briefly explained why that answer was the correct one and why the others were wrong.
I added some fun gifs to the powerpoints because I feel like it puts the class in a more fun and relaxed mood which really helps the kids get into it. Please double check the last question and decide whether or not you want your kids to learn about what jello is "made from" ;)
The Powerpoint is missing?
