I originally made this PPT on regional American food to supplement Unit 6 of New Horizon Elementary 6. It works great as a cultural presentation and to discuss various food ingredients. You can view each state by clicking on the corresponding red stars on the map in the first slide, and go back to the map by clicking on the American flag. The map is by no means complete so feel free to add more states or change things around.

This could be a fun things some of us Americans on here could collaborate on! Maybe we can all work together and make a full list of regional foods.
In Missouri, we eat St. Louis style pizza (a super thin, crunchy pizza with a cracker-like crust) and gooey butter cake!
There are the collections at the bottom on the page. Somebody could start an 'American Regional Food' or 'Regional Custums' collection and add to it as new activities come up.
I love it- made me so hungry for some food from home!! If you ever add on, Maryland's foods could be crab cakes (crab meat and Old Bay) and Berger cookies (shortbread cookie with chocolate fudge icing!)
For North Carolina, The big ones are Lexington Style BBQ and Texas Pete Hot Sauce (Yes its not from Texas). I know hot sauce isn't a "food" but its too good :D
For Ohio you can add Buckeye chocolates! Peanut butter covered in chocolate and shaped to look like a buckeye nut. We also like to make other things into peanut butter chocolate flavor and call them buckeye styled. I love a buckeye donut, which is just a chocolate covered donut filled with peanut butter flavored cream with a dollop of peanut butter cream on top! Buckeye ice cream is a favorite too.
For New Jersey, you can add Pork Roll (Taylor Ham). It's a huge debate on what to call it depending on where in NJ you are from. I prefer calling it Pork Roll, but to each their own LMAO. It's a round processed log of pork that tastes like a combination of bacon and ham, it's really good served crispy!
Great activity! Very easy to modify and has a lot of interesting dishes to show!
