Let's Try 1 Unit 1 Country Greetings Bingo!

Bingo game featuring the greetings of LT1 U1 countries.

Simple warm up Bingo game for third grade unit 1!

I used it at the beginning of their second lesson after reviewing the countries and greetings flashcards. Also, thank you to earthiverse for your country greetings cards! I basically just edited them a tiny bit and backed them on coloured card rather than having the country flags on the back.

  1. Hand out the bingo sheets with the country flags - I made three different layouts just to spice it up a bit but use however many you like. Make sure you/HRT explains what the "FREE" slot is because some students didn't understand. You could just change this to a 9th country/greeting but I had only done the 8 in the book the week before. (Also, I added the UK to the America/Australia slot because I am from the UK, you are more than welcome to delete the flag!)

  2. Hand out the country greetings cards and tell the students their card is a SECRET so they don't start yelling GUTEN TAG! or whatever before the game actually starts.

  3. I gave the class 3 minutes to greet as many other students as they can using only the greeting on their card and to check off the corresponding flag on their Bingo card. When they got 3 flags in a row they came up to me to get a stamp on the worksheet (in hindsight I would change this to only getting a stamp for their first bingo and/or a full house because these kids were going feral for stamps and I ended up using up the ink in my stamp with how many I was giving out lol).

One issue I came across was the fact that the flags on the photocopied worksheets are black and white so it's a little difficult for the students to know which flag is which, so just make sure you have the flags in colour displayed on the blackboard so they can double check.

This is my first activity posted on here so I hope this all makes sense! My school always love a Bingo game and I hope yours do too :)
