Music Quiz!!

As we're nearing the end of the school year and students are exhausted from testing, I've decided to make a really fun and interactive song quiz for them to enjoy!

RECENTLY UPDATED**

There was far too much Korean and Japanese in this English Song Quiz, so I flushed a lot of that out!

This song quiz has a few elements to it.

Firstly, I split students into four groups. The bigger, the better. However, the maximum number of students I have in a group is 6. If there are too many students in one group, they start to talk about other things and we lose sight of the game.

The first level is a fill-in-the-blank, listening quiz. I play the song for them once, and if they didn't catch it the first time, they ask for me to play it one more time. I have no issue doing this. The point is to improve their listening skills.

The second level tests their general knowledge and listening skills once again. There are two popular songs by the same artist, and students must guess which song it is. The song title's name is always present in the lyrics when they are listening, so usually, if they don't know the song, they just use their listening skills to hear what is being repeated.

Throughout these rounds, there are bonus rounds. These are all songs from different anime's. Students have to guess, out of three, which anime the song is from. The first team to guess correctly receives points.

There's also a hard bonus rounds. If you look at the powerpoint, they're all self-explanatory.

The easiest way to moderate this is to have students write their answers on a whiteboard. They're already talking pretty loudly over the music, so this is the easiest way to avoid them shouting the answer over each other.

At the end of level 2, there's a final bonus round. This consists of 3, well-known Disney Songs. All I ask is that they guess the movie that the song is from.

At the very end, there's a tiebreaker song if two teams have the same number of points. They must guess which anime the song is from. If they're struggling, you can give them the hints I've created.

Enjoy! Let me know if there are any questions.

The songs are embedded in the powerpoint, so it's better to send as a link in case some people cannot access large files.

I have created my own point system which is written in the memo section of the powerpoint, but feel free to use your own. I give some songs more points than others simply based on what words I noticed my students struggled with.

@Isuna yes! if you go into ファイル (Files) and then go to 名前を付して保存 (basically save as) and click コピーのダウンロード (download copy), then you have it :)

This is the best thing I've found on this site so far and was a hit in every class I used it in my high school. Thank you so much for uploading this.

I want to try making my own for next semester. If you don't mind me asking, how did you get the music files?

@greenbloke sorry for the super late response! To be honest, getting the files was a lot of work.

First, I go to Youtube and copy the link of my song.

Secondly, I search in google "Youtube to MP3 downloader". Once they're downloaded, I open them in Garage Band (if you're using windows, I'm not sure what the equivalent is). Then I cut the part of the song I want and download it to my Apple Music Library.

Thirdly, I go to my Apple Music, click the three dots next to the song and click "Open in Finder".

Fourthly, I move that file to my desktop (this isn't necessary but it is easier for me to locate)

Lastly, I go into Powerpoint and click "Upload Audio File." And BOOM! Your audio is there!

Quick Tip (now Powerpoint requires it to be an MP4 file, so if your audio isn't already in MP4 format, just type into Google "MP3 to MP4 converter)

      I hope this helps :)
