The scenery was inspired by UonumaRobert's Park Life Poster!
OVERVIEW:
Just a simple little activity to get the kids practicing prepositions. I made this during summer desk warming. The idea of it was funny to me so I thought I'd share it! It's based on Unit 5 of New Horizons 1.
Basically the kids need to carefully watch the golden eggs flying around the screen to different places in the park and write sentences about where they think the birds are. They can look at which bird is in which egg for a few seconds at the start. I would let them do this activity in pairs since they need to keep track of two different birds every time.
HOW TO USE THE PPT:
- Slides 1-7 are review and explanation of the scenario (you can click on the cardboard boxes to reveal the answers on Slide 2).
- From Slide 8-16 is the activity!
- To make the birds disappear you can click the rock on the bottom right.
- To make the eggs fly around you can click on the "day" sign (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc.).
- To reveal the birds again you can click on the rock by the pond 1 time! If you click the pond rock a second time the answer sentence will appear on the screen.
You should always click in that order otherwise things won't look quite right.
NOTES:
After the eggs change locations on the screen I would give the students a bit of time to talk with their partners and write the answers on the worksheet. Then reveal the answers and let them count up their points if they got any! The crow is worth 1 point and the special bird is worth 3 points!
I'd recommend going through the controls a few times before playing!
The last day is pretty much impossible, but I think the kids will enjoy it! haha (For Saturday and Sunday I added a few extra eggs that just fly unhelpfully across the screen).
Since I haven't used this yet, I'm not sure how easy/difficult it will be for them to see the eggs moving on the screen. They might have to move their desks closer.
This activity could probably be modified a little bit and used for elementary school as well.
EDIT:
I used in class and it went well! The kids got super into it haha.
Also, it doesn't make a difference with the actual game but in the intro slides I used a couple of custom fonts for the part that's supposed to look like the "Who's that Pokémon?" screen. Here are the links! Not strictly necessary but you can use them if you want to!

Thanks so much for putting the time in to make and share this. It's exactly what I need for my next 1st year class. In particular, thank you also for sharing it in an editable format, and for including the font information - that's super useful. Very much obliged to you tips hat appreciatively
@me_in_japan thank you!
