"I went to〜" board game.

A board game I made for my year 6 students to practice asking and answering "Where did you go?" and "I went to (the)..." phrases.

This is a simple board game I made for my year 6 students studying Lesson 3 (past tense) in the Crown Junior 6 Textbook.

Each student places their player piece (I usually get them to use their own eraser) on start, then they take turns rolling the dice. When a student lands on a square, all the other students must ask "Where did you go?". The student then must answer using the phrase "I went to〜". I've been drilling my students on when and when not to use "the", so I've included a mix of countries, prefectures and places around town. The places on the board are all vocab words they should know by now, but if in doubt you can always drill the vocab before playing.

To add an extra element of luck, I've included stars and exclamation points. If they land on a star, they get to move forward. If they land on an exclamation point, they have to move back.

I have a very small class, so each student can take it in turns without getting too bored, but for bigger classes I'd suggest printing a few copies and splitting them into groups. You can also make pairs within groups so they practice "We went to" as well.

I've sized it so it should fit nicely onto an A3 sized paper.

Enjoy!
