Past Tense Sugoroku Board Game

A board game to practice using saw, went, visited, enjoyed ____ing, ate, and played.

A very basic activity for past simple. The past tense verb content in this unit of NH 1 (pg. 52-53) is pretty simple and minimal, and they don't directly learn "What did you do?" as a question form yet, so this is a way to practice just changing the verb form.

Put students in pairs or groups of however many you like. Once they land on a space, they have to make a sentence with the corresponding image, e.g. "I played basketball" or "I went to Canada". The present tense verb form is below each space to prompt them to change that word to past tense.

Please note that "enjoy" is listed under hiking and swimming, because in the textbook they learn "enjoyed swimming/enjoyed ____ing" rather than the actual past tense form of those verbs.
