Can be used for any sentence grammar that uses noun-verb-noun format, e.g. simple present, future, helping verbs, causative verbs, passive, present perfect, etc. etc. Just decide how much you want students to add/conjugate or if they will just arrange the parts, and edit the cards as needed.
Print and prepare the cards in 3 or at most 4 categories (e.g. subject, verb, object, helping verb etc.). I like to paste them on different colored card stock so the students can easily order the sentence parts by color.
Hand out the worksheet and ask students to get into pairs or small groups if you like.
Explain to students that they (or their group) will take one card from each stack to make a sentence. Demonstrate by drawing one of each card and reading the sentence you made, and translating if necessary.
Have students come get their first cards. Once they write down their first sentence (plus the translation if you like), they return their cards and draw new ones, repeating until they make 4 different sentences. You can tell them it's okay to exchange a card if they get a repeat.
After writing all the sentences, students can draw a silly picture of their favorite sentence!
This is a great activity for any level class because they really enjoy making and understanding the funny sentences, and you can adjust the difficulty by having them conjugate the verb, etc. You could even leave out one category and ask them to come up with their own verb or subject.
