This is my take on hangman and I have different versions according to grade level. I mainly use this for my special needs classes at JHS but I have created this powerpoint to supplement the Let’s Try! 2 textbook. Because my students enjoyed playing this game for unit 6, I created this version to introduce
The alien has returned and this time it has stolen the vegetables and fuits on pages 26 and 27.
How to play
This activity focuses on the target language “Do you have (a, b, c… z)?” to complete the words of each slide.
If your class didn't use my activity for Unit 6 then please unhide the example slide (slide 4) to explain how to play. The example word is h e l l o, start off by letting the class know how many letters there are and then use the teachers to demonstrate by asking “Do you have 〜?” and responding with “Yes, I do. I have 〜.” or “No, I don’t. I don’t have 〜.” Just click on the letters and they’ll either raise up or drop down depending on the word.
If you class has played before then just get the students to review "Do you have 〜?" using slide 5.
Each word is revealed in the notes, and since I think that these words are simplier than the ones used on pages 22 and 23, students can now only make 4 mistakes, and if they make a 5th mistake the character will unfortunately be abducted. If the letter is wrong and drops down then click on the “X”. For the 5th incorrect letters, click on the UFO itself.
If all the letters of the word are revealed then click on the character to have them runaway from danger.
once the answer is revealed, the next slide will act like a flashcard where students can repeat after the teacher.
Becuase there are just too many vegetables and fruits, I have only used 8 of them in the game itself.
Those words being melons, cucumbers, oranges, strawberries, potatoes, carrots, kiwi fruits (no space though), and cherries.
However, I have included the rest as flashcards so please put them in any order that you want.
I thought that this would be a novel and somewhat fun way to practice the target language of the previous unit while introducing the new words for unit 7. Make sure that you have sound.
Great work! Thank you for sharing!
