About the Game 🎄
This is a fun, low-prep time filler game to bring some holiday vibes into the classroom! It’s a Christmas version of my Last One Standing game, where students guess which word will be the last one sung as a song plays. This game was originally on Korshare in 2019 but I've updated all the graphics, sounds, and animations. Super simple and always a hit!
How It Works 🎶
- Put the slide with 10 words up on the screen.
- Everyone stands and picks a word they think will stick around until the very end. (Have them tell a friend, write it down, or do a raise of hands per word.)
- Play the song! As the lyrics go, words start falling off the screen.
- When a student’s word disappears, they sit.
- The winners are the last ones standing when the final word is left!
- Keep going with other songs or call it quits whenever! I keep a list of winner names on the blackboard.
Song List 🎧
These are all Christmas classics, so even if the kids don’t know them, they’ll catch on fast:
- Santa Claus Is Coming to Town - Michael Bublé
- Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee
- You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch - Thurl Ravenscroft
- Last Christmas - Wham!
- Santa Tell Me - Ariana Grande
- All I Want for Christmas Is You - Mariah Carey
- White Christmas - Bing Crosby
- Frosty the Snowman - Gene Autry
- Underneath the Tree - Kelly Clarkson
- Jingle Bell Rock - Bobby Helms
Why It’s Fun 🎉
It’s one of those games that works for all kinds of classes—big or small, loud or quiet. It’s a good way to fill time before the holidays without losing their attention, and the music adds a festive touch. Plus, it’s always funny to see which words kids get weirdly competitive about.
Similar Version 🎵
I made another version of this game earlier with J-pop, K-pop, and English songs. If you want to mix it up or don’t feel like doing Christmas stuff, you can grab that one in the sidebar!
Notes 📝
- The songs are short clips (30-40 seconds), so it moves along pretty quickly.
- My co-teachers ended up joining in because they liked the songs—bonus!

Let me know how it goes or if you have other song ideas to add. Hope your students have fun with it! 🎅✨
Happy teaching,

My students enjoy last one standing so much. They are definitely going to love this. Thank you for your amazing work.
Great work! I'm looking forward to trying this.
Love this! But for some reason on my end I can't get the sound clips to play.
Hi all, Thanks for the kind words. @chance_darren52 Did you download the PPTX or only open in Google slides? I don't think the sound and animations will match up in Google slides and must be downloaded as a PPTX. Let me know if you are still having issues with this :)
You're a lifesaver. This game looks fun! I can't wait to use it in my classes. Thanks a lot.
Looks fun! But I can't play the songs
@CarpenterBee Thank you! I downloaded it as a ppt and its working for me now.
This is awesome, thank you for making it!
I'm able to play the songs, but "Last Christmas" and "All I Want for Christmas Is You" stop playing with 10-15 seconds left. All the other songs play to the full length. Any advice?
@srmaynard44 Thank you for catching that! I must have cut it short when I was trying to figure out what was going on with the sound yesterday. I have updated the file and all should be working now~
Thanks so much. I was wanting to do something a little different for my Christmas lesson and this is perfect.
WOW this is fantastic. Thank you so much.
Always looking forward to your new activities! Kids really get into it since they love music.
Bless you for updating it as I was unable to play the music earlier, glad I checked back!
amazing! youd did a good work on this activity and preparing all the slides, thank you for this @CarpenterBee
Can't wait to use this! Thank you!
I can play it now! Thank you!
@CarpenterBee Thank you for sharing this with us. This sounds so fun! I've used a lot of your work in my lessons. I couldn't thank you enough.
This looks great. Thanks for sharing!
Nice! I've gotten a lot of good ideas from this site, that I usually adapt pretty heavily to fit my personality and/or the needs/interests of my students, but I think this will be the first contribution that I will simply use as is (well, I might have to change that Michael Buble song, hehe). And double thanks for putting it up as a Powerpoint!
This is such an awesome idea! Thank you so much for this.
Thank you so much!
Thank you! This looks so fun!
Hi, this is really awesome. Thank you for this.
This is absolutely amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your hard work!
Thank you! This is such a wonderful idea! Bless you! Has anyone tried it for the whole class time?
Oh my gosh! You saved me. I love this game so much and wanted to make a Christmas version but didn't know how to start, but now I don't even have to worry because you made it!!! I can't wait to use it in class.
I love this! I will definitely be using it with my ES 5th graders. Thank you for working on this and sharing it!
One Question. Why can't I click enough like button on this one. There should be heart button here .Amazing work thank you, Thank you !
Thanks for this! Just one thing:
In the song "Last Christmas" by Wham!
He actually whispers 'Happy Christmas'. It's not 'Merry Christmas'.
So maybe might wanna edit the winning word from 'merry' to 'happy'.
@all Thank you all so much for the love and enthusiasm for this game! 💖 I hope your classes had as much fun playing it as mine did. If you're looking for another fun time-filler, I made a similar one a few months ago with J-pop, K-pop, and Western pop hits. You can find it in the sidebar.
@hannah, thank you so much for your kind words! I’m so glad you like the game! I usually find it takes about 20 minutes to play. One co-teacher once had the students repeat every word after the group, but honestly, it kind of slowed down the flow of the game.
@callmespike Thank you! You’re absolutely right—he whispers 'Happy Christmas,' not 'Merry Christmas.' I can’t believe I missed that detail! Thanks for pointing it out, and I really appreciate your sharp eye for accuracy. It has been updated!
