Objective:
Interview each other to find the most AMAZING character! (by practicing 'more...than' / 'most'.)
Set up:
Print 1 worksheet per student.
Print 1 set of character cards per group of students and cut up the cards (see notes).
Bring extra glue sticks to class.
Method:
Put the students into groups of 4/5.
Give 1 worksheet pp and one set of character cards per group.
(If your school has one of those mini projectors you can use to display the worksheet on the TV, it really helps with the explanation.)
Show the worksheet. Students must choose 6 character cards (for the bottom row of the worksheet) and glue them on.
Give them 3-4 minutes. Hand out the extra glue sticks.
When finished, explain the interview activity.
They must find the most amazing character.
Q1-3: They must ask: 'Who is more interesting / beautiful / popular [A or B]?'
- and collect the results as per the example (top left on worksheet).
Then, Q4: 'Who is the most amazing?' with the winners from the previous round.
At the end, make sure there is time for them to write a sentence about each result.
- e.g. 'Totoro is more popular than Spider-Man.' / 'Deadpool is the most amazing.'
NOTES:
- You can use the cards for all the Q's, but this means a lot of extra cutting and trying to organize your students. I don't recommend this (trust me haha). What I did: students can choose the 6 character cards for Q1-3, then for Q4 and the winner they can either draw or just write the character name.
- Less cards is better. The first class I tried this with spent way too long deciding which characters to choose. In the next class, I reduced the number of cards per group from 40 --> 32. (This still works with groups of 5.)
- The more time you can spend with this activity, the better.
- I originally found this activity on 'A Fox In Japan' (https://afoxinjapan.com/more-most-popularity-contest/), but I made some changes so I thought I'd upload my own version here.
