Activity

A Great dessert for the kids.

This is a game for the kids, to practice the grammar they have learned so far this year. They will have a great fun. I always do speaking activities, but this time they have to write.

This is a great end-of-the-year dessert. A game where everyone has fun and everyone has to participate.

First, form groups of 3 or 4 people maximum. Each group must have a whiteboard, a marker, and an eraser. Nothing else.

I explain to my students that they have to create the appropriate question for each answer I give them on TV. Before doing the first round, I write the following on the blackboard:

Q _____?
A I'm fine.

I give them the opportunity to practice with this super easy round, so they understand how the game works. "Ready? Go!!!!". I give them a little time to write "How are you?" on the whiteboard. Once the time I consider necessary to have written the question has passed, I count down from 5. When I reach zero, all groups must hold up what they wrote. If everything is correct, I give them a point.

Before each round, I announce the points they can get if they get it right. I always give them more points per round, so those who are behind in the score have the opportunity to win later.

It is very important to be strict when reviewing the questions. Check that they have the correct spelling, the question mark, etc.

There is an answer in my PPT that says "I don't know". 99% of the students will write: "Do you know....". I'm very picky here. If they write that, I answer: "Yes, I do or No, I don't". Here they must ask questions like "what is my dog's name?". These types of questions are the only possible ones for this answer.

I always tell the students that the whiteboard must go to the next team member after each round. This way I make sure everyone writes. Everyone can help, but only one writes.

I have attached the PPT I made for all grades. Please edit the material according to the place and school where you are. It is best to use places and people that they know well.

Another thing I like about this activity is that you control the time yourself. When you decide it's time to finish, congratulate the winning team.

I hope you like it, and don't forget to tell me how it went with this activity. It is very important for me to have your feedback.

Merry Christmas.
