In Mario's Shape Builder, choose the correct shapes to build the item/character shown on the screen!
This is a nice little warm-up exercise when teaching shapes/colours. The first few slides act as a refresh of shapes and colours. I usually ask students for both the colour and shape, before using them both together (i.e. "red circle"). Afterwards, we explain the rules, and get into the game!
You can use groups or just ask students to put their hands up. I usually do the former for 1st/2nd year classes. For 3rd year students, I also like to practice "What do you want?" and "__ , please!". Once the student picks a shape, click on it, and it should appear in the silhouette if it is correct, or display a big ol' cross if it's wrong. Once all the shapes have been filled in, click the ? block to reveal what the shapes represent!
Note there are also sound effects and such used in this game :)
