Activity

How are you Jankan

A race activity to practice how are you and the 'Be verb'

I introduce the feelings with a 'how are you' facial expresssion quiz. I do this with a video now since I'm always wearing a mask.

Then practice the sentences 'I'm happy' 'I'm not happy'.

The game is played in pairs. In my classes the desks have to stay separate and the students shouldn't face each other (Good luck with that)

Demonstrate it first. Note that rather than saying 'rock scissors paper' teach the kids to say 'How are you? Go!' and do the Janken bit on Go.

Then winner moves two spaces and says the sentence. The loser moves one space and says the sentence. Set a three minute time limit or maybe four.

The students who reach goal or move the furtherest are the winners.

Also tell the students this is not 'Janken' practice. They are doing this to practice English so its important to say the words and read the sentences.
