Getting to know teachers

A way to close the gap between students and teachers via English,

There wasn't a dedicated English Board at my school, so I submitted a request to the heads of my school, with the attached plan. they OK'd it, so I gave every teacher at my school the attached survey. I translated their responses into English, and printed them out weekly, along with a picture of the teacher, putting them in little pockets on the board.

Since there is no image hosting, you can't see how it actually is, but the attached "TeacherBoardIdea" file should give you a good image of it.

For permission from your school if you don't have a board already, asking your head English Teacher, and then the governing board for your school can net you points for the process.

SampleTeacherIntroPlea.docx is the cover letter essentially for explaining what you want to do. Be sure to change the school, date, and name for your personal situation.

Teacher boardIdea2020.pptx should be the next page in the packet. This gives them(and you) a general idea of what the board can look like. That is how it looks like at my school, the blue cards being laminated and able to be flipped up, revealing the answer below it.

2020TeacherInterviewQuestionnaire.docx can finish your application packet, and has English and Japanese questions for your teachers. If it is approved, this is what you would give to all teachers at your school. Hopefully they respond, and then your real work begins.

CardFlip Template.pptx is the "moving" part of the board. I printed them out, and laminated them to resist wear and tear.

Teacher Profile Template.pptx is where you'll put the answers for the teachers' questions. You will likely have to translate them, so if you don't have strong Japanese, google or a bilingual friend will be handy.

For making the pockets, I got B5 size "clear pocket" from daiso, and cut them in thirds. The ones that just become holes, I taped up one side so that the paper won't fall out.

I used some of the excess laminate from the CardFlip Template.pptx to be a brace at the top of the back of the pocket, and taped it to the cards, making a kind of lid.

I understand reading all this may be hard to understand, so if you have any questions hit me up on discord.

What's your discord? I'm interested in the idea and I have a couple questions about how to make it.
