Organise the class into groups (I make groups of 3).
Show the slide with the flag and see if anyone knows what country it is. My students thought it was Turkey. Then explain that today is a quiz about Singapore.
If you're doing the gambling version, explain the rules and handout your equipment (I use fake money and a "gambling sheet" which is a laminated piece of A4 paper that looks like the slide with the gambling instructions). Adjust how you wish but in my version, the students with losing bets forfeit that money to the winner. If there is more than one winner, they split the losers' money (if the denominations are uneven then they can janken to see who gets the larger amount). If all students bet correctly then they get their own money back. If all students are wrong then they get their own money back.
If you're doing the quiz with a worksheet etc then prepare that and hand it out.
Ask the questions from the slides and then reveal the answer. I give students 10 seconds to place their bets/answer.
The winner of each group is the student with the most money or the most correct answers.
For the population density question, the blue circle is my town's population density. You can replace with your own as an interesting point of comparison.
Great!! I plan on using it later this week!!!
