My Hero Academia Speed Words Game
How to Play:
First there are example screens to demonstrate how the game will work. I write my example answers on the board during this time. I make sure to purposely misspell some words in order to show the students that they will not get the point if they misspell the word. After the example I hand out the worksheets (one for each student).
They must have written the correct English term and written it with correct spelling in order to receive a point for the word.
Japanese vocabulary terms will quickly appear and then disappear one after another. Students will write down the English translations of these words on their worksheets in the same order as the appear on screen. When all the vocabulary has finished for the round a timer will appear on screen. The timer will last 30 secs. During these 30 seconds students will have time to quickly correct or change their answers on their worksheet for the round before the answer check.
After time is up move on to the answer slide. Click the screen for a 1-minute timer to start counting down. During this minute the students should correct their answers. Once the 1 minute is up or when the students have finished correcting their answers, move on to the next slide and click anywhere on screen to begin the next round. There are 3 phases with 3 rounds each to be played over 3 class periods. At the end of all phases students will add up their totals to see which rank of super hero they get. I give any students who get ‘Super Hero’ rank a sticker or teachers can award points accordingly.
Options:
You can also choose to play 1 phase of the game (3 rounds only) for one class period instead of 3 phases over 3 class periods. Just play Phase 1 and end the game after the 3 rounds. (Choose the ONE TIME ONLY version of the worksheet.)
You can split you class into groups and have them work together to write their answers.
There is a TEMPLATE version which you can fill in with vocabulary from any lesson you wish to use.
