Activity

Mario Party - Have you ever

Have students work together in groups in order to gather the most coins!

My JTE wanted an activity that'd last 30 min and that'll have students motivated to use the newly learned grammar structure, so I made this. My 3rd graders (JHS) love this game a ton and are always super motivated to actually make sentences when playing (even the students who don't really like English).

This game's rules are taken (but slightly modified) from Lucas' Apex Review game.
I just made new assets (photoshopped a lot of Mario stuff like cards + text titles etc. to fit this theme) and studied Lucas' Apex Review triggers etc. in order to figure out how to animate movement in this.
Feel free to revise it to fit your needs! 😊✨

RULES

  • Break students into 6 groups.
  • Have student groups choose a number on slide 3 (click) and it will be their team name.
  • Hand students a piece of paper that they’ll write answers on.
  • Groups write/form the correct sentences on their piece of paper and run up to check if it’s correct with the teacher (you)
  • The fastest group to form the correct question gets to choose a card first.
(Go in order of correctly finished – have the JTE keep track of which groups were the fastest – It goes smoothly if they help keep track of points as well)

-Try to have groups change writers every round.
(Make sure to keep having incorrect answered groups keep trying to make the correct sentence)

-Each group keeps choosing cards until all of the cards or an「Action Card」is chosen.
-If an「Action Card」is chosen, we go to the next round. (This is to get students motivated to try and answer correctly and quickly so that they can choose first.)

※Make sure students use punctuation 「?」and are using the correct grammar/spelling.

The game lasts roughly ~30-45 minutes depending on how long you let your students ponder the correct answer.

(It could honestly last a whole class period if you want it to.)

※ Press on Toady if you need to finish and go to the end (choose a winner page) for any reason (i.e. ran out of time)

Have fun!!

Wow this is awesome. I love using these types of powerpoint games, and have a bunch of mario ones - but I really appreciate the clean and simple design of this one - everything is really high resolution which makes it nice to use. Thank you!

I'm glad that you like it!! Thank you!
