This is a coded PowerPoint game! If you want to use it, you will have to allow macros.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- One 6-sided die
- White boards, markers, and erasers for each group
- Copies of a list of questions for each group
- OPTIONAL: print, cut, and laminate the sharks to give one to each team
DIRECTIONS
- Divide your class into groups.
- Each group gets one shark (up to 9 available).
- Groups answer questions on their white boards.
- For each answer, have one student from that group bring their white board and questions list to you.
- If they are correct, mark that question complete on the list and have them roll the 6-sided die and move their shark accordingly.
- The group that has eaten the most sharks after the time limit wins. (The green boxes show the # of times their team has eaten other sharks, the red boxes show how many times they have been eaten.)
GAME PLAY
- On the first slide, click the Shark Attack button to clear and initialize the game.
- Click the sharks on the left to move the pieces.
- If a shark is eaten, click the Stop fish and then the Move turtle to randomly relocate it on the board.
- Click the sharks on the board to turn them into bait if they aren't being used.
- Click the dead fish to show/hide the number of times a group has been eaten.
TIPS / VARIATIONS
- Turn your sound on to hear the JAWS theme as one shark approaches another.
- Use two dice to speed up the action.
- Subtract the been eaten score before deciding the winner.
- You don't need to save the PPT after use!
- To reset the game or if anything goes wrong, go back to the first slide and click the Shark Attack button.
"Shark Game Small Board" has only four sharks and a smaller board for a smaller class size.
