Activity

2 Truths and 1 Lie

This activity will allow students to practice the vocabulary "I have", "I have never" and "I know how to".

This worksheet was a spin off of https://www.altopedia.net/activities/1680-past-tense-2-truths-and-a-lie.

I used this activity in my final class for 3rd Graders.
My JTE requested a group activity to review JHS grammar from 1st-3rd Grade and this was one of them.

I explained the activity and provided my own example. Students will listen and guess which is the lie.
The example I gave them was:

  1. I have visited America 8 times. (truth)
  2. I have never played table tennis. (truth)
  3. I know how to make Oyakodon. (lie)

Group Activity- depending on class size
Each student will write down 2 truths and 1 lie about themself using the following target language:

  1. I have...
  2. I have never...
  3. I know how to...

I also provided a word box with some verbs that can be used to help them form their sentences.
For example: listen, watch, sing, wear, visit

After that, each student will read their sentences and group members will try to guess what is true and what is a lie.
At the back of the worksheet are 6 tables (depending on how many students are in each group)
Students will write the name of their group members and indicate if each sentence was true or lie. "O" for true and "X" for lie

At the end, if there's enough time, you can choose 2 students to read their sentences to the rest of the class and they will guess the lie.
