This is a fun, energizing game you can play at the end of the year, before a break, or anytime you need something fun to do!
You need:
- An appropriate English song! (I like "Try Everything" by Shakira, "Safe and Sound" by Capital Cities, and "#thatPower" by will.i.am)
-a VERY SOFT small ball from Daiso or Seria
-Stickers
-This PowerPoint
Play the music! Ask students to throw the ball randomly and GENTLY (but, try to encourage throwing to everyone, sometimes it turns into only the baseball superstars pitching to each other). When you pause the music, the student with the ball needs to answer a question in English. Click on the PowerPoint to reveal the questions behind the gold bars. If they get a correct answer, they win a sticker! Continue the game until you run out of time, questions, or willpower.
If you can't do music, you or the JTE should turn around so they can't see who has the ball and shout "Stop!" randomly, and the other teacher will see which student is holding the ball and that student will answer the question.
Feel free to edit the questions to suit your unit or student level!
Great game idea, thanks! Is "This PowerPoint" supposed to be a link?
I like this. I have to think of different self intro for my new 1st years JHS. This would be a great way to turn it around and get to know them too.
@brooketeacher I fixed it! Now you can see the attachment. Does it work?
This looks like a fun game! Thanks for sharing.
