Hand the sheet to the student(s). Ask them to write the Japanese word in English. There is an example already written but crossed out, this is the kunrei style that many elementary school students learn in 3rd grade. When the sheet is complete go over it with the student to see if it is alright.
You could also write and show some other words that get students confused: Natsume, zig-zag, China, and so on.
