Spent all morning on this. This year I have requests for activities for EVERY SINGLE PAGE of the textbook. I had nothing for what’s on this page. One World 2 L5-3 p60 describes it as follows:
“Expressing things like ‘teach someone how to do something’.
{teach + (人) + how to~} means teach (person) how to do something.}
The verbs teach, tell, ask and show are often used in sentences like this.”
The key sentence is "Bob taught me how to make a jack'o'lantern."
The ‘questions’ I entered have three prompt words such as these, Dad + me + chess. The students have to make a sentence from them like this depending on which of the four target verbs is in play:
Dad taught me how to play chess, Dad told me how to play chess, Dad asked me how to play chess or Dad showed me how to play chess.
There are ten Rounds.
Rounds 1-4 have the same prompts but students use teach for Round 1, tell for Round 2, ask for Round 3 and show for Round 4.
Rounds 5-8 have different prompts and students again use either teach, tell, ask or show.
Rounds 9 and 10 have all different prompts and students can use any of the four verbs. I labelled the Rounds so you don’t have to remember this.
As for the game itself it’s from taysteachingtoolkit.com and the rules and gameplay are described in the notes in the slides. Search there for Pi-Gru if you need more information.
I recommend writing an example on the whiteboard and making sure you have a good mouse - as entering the groups' choices during the game is a bit challenging. It’s a great game though and thanks to Tayler for sharing all her stuff.
It took me a whi,e to fully understand this game but i finally got it in the end. Thank you :)
Ha! It took me a while too. You're welcome. How did it go? I was shocked how many kids could not read the prompts on the TV unless they moved to about 2m away. To me it was easy from anywhere in the classroom. Is it just that they have poor eyesight?
Finally used it this week and it went great! I also found that the students couldnt read the prompts but they willingly came to the front to read. Overall the students had fun. Great game!!! Thanks again for sharing!!!
