Preserved Foods

To go with the Big Dipper English Communication 2 textbook lesson on Preserved Foods, but can be used in general

Made this to go with the Big Dipper English communication 2 textbook lesson about preserved foods. Like the other lesson I posted from this textbook, my JTE let me do whatever so I decided to just gush about fermented foods that I love and to play a guessing game with the kids.

Before the lesson, warmed up with English shiritori. If your kids are more advanced, could restrict to food related words, but just did general for about 3 minutes. Gave little snack prizes to the winning team, just to get them energized.

For my lesson I used the powerpoint to talk a bit about fermented foods from around the world and Japan. I wanted to focus on the production part of the lesson so I gave this 5 minutes tops.
The second half of the powerpoint is my example of the activity, I had the kids try to guess as a class from my clues and had some candy ready for any kids that managed to guess before the reveal. Completely ripped the base design of the hint slides from eisorus's "Spy (Based on Jackbox Games Fakin' It)" activity, although the clues/content are my own and the rest of the slides are 100% mine.

Gave them about 20 minutes to come up with their clues and then in the last 10 minutes or so they read their hints out loud and the rest of the class guessed. Had them raise their hand if they guessed it, and gave a prize to the guesser, but that isn't necessary if you don't want to bring in prizes.
