This is a warmup, worksheet, and activity meant to take an entire class period.
WARM-UP (Powerpoint) - 10 minutes
1. Divide class into 6-or-so groups. Provide whiteboards or something to write their answers on if possible.
2. Students will answer each question using passive voice.
3. 1 point if they write just the answer. 2 points if they write the answer in a full sentence. (or however you want to dish out scores). *NOTE: questions get harder as the game progresses, so having one or two questions be worth double points is a good idea, I think.
4. Group with the most points wins!
WORKSHEET (PDF/docx.) - 15-20 minutes
Pretty self-explanatory. Students answer the quiz written in passive voice. This helps prepare them for the second part of the activity. Use of dictionary is okay for difficult/unkown words (like せみ=cicada)
After all (or most) students are finished, they will make their own quiz using passive voice. They should aim for 3 mini quizzes but all students should AT LEAST write one so they can participate in the next part of class.
CONVERSATION - 10 minutes
Students will quiz each other using the questions they made. The student who answered their question correctly will sign their name on the other student's worksheet.
If time allows it, some volunteer/chosen students can quiz the entire class.
I will provide the Powerpoint and worksheet below. Thanks!
