This is an activity I play with my JHS 3rd years at the beginning of every class and they love it. It's a twist on straight-across (crisscross, たてよこ, etc.) using a roulette board. I'm unable to share the link to the exact wheel that I use because the link expires after a while, but I use wheelofnames.com and input these choices (just copy and paste):
Straight
Across
Person behind
Person in front
Left person
Right person
Just you
Choose one friend
Choose two friends
Rock, paper, scissors!
Everyone stand up
EXPLANATION:
Every student stands up. Ask a simple question or whatever you'd like to review. Students will raise their hands to answer. When a student correctly answers, they come up to spin the wheel, and the wheel decides the outcome. Whoever is still sitting when the timer is up is the winner. If all students are sitting before the timer ends, you can ask the students who haven't answered to stand up and play until then.
ABOUT THE CHOICES:
Straight = everyone in the row of the student who answered can sit down
Across = everyone in the column of the student who answered can sit down
Person behind = the person who answered, and the person behind them can sit down
Person in front = the person who answered, and the person in front of them can sit down
Left person = same as above, but left
Right person = same as above, but right
Just you
Choose one friend
Choose two friends
Rock, paper, scissors! = student who answered plays rock, paper scissors with the teacher. they can only sit down if they win, if not, they have to keep standing
Everyone stand up = everyone stands up. can include the person who answered, or everyone BUT the person who answered has to stand up.
Hope you enjoy! I have a lot of fun with this game every time we play it. I had one student answer twice and get defeated in rock paper scissors both times, lol.
