Procedure:
Plan your own trip and show the class where you want to go, what you want to do, and what items you will bring on your trip (and why).
Next, distribute the worksheets and instruct the students to come up with their own trip abroad. Tell them that they are going on a five day trip abroad, so they shouldn't plan for a local trip in Japan. Challenge them to bring six items only and come up with three activities they will do.
After finishing their worksheets, students will form pairs and talk about their trip. After talking about the trip, the partner should try and ask one or two questions about the trip. Go around and encourage the students to ask more about the trip their partners have planned. There are example questions on the worksheet that they can use.
Download the editable PPT here: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/11ZAad_PhYyZ6WN_jVoGpvUTZ_3fqZ77S/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=105605757484484336136&rtpof=true&sd=true
(Fonts will change and format would be different too, but if you download it as PPT, it would pretty much be the same as the PDF I uploaded.)
I was looking for something just like this! Thank you :)
Would you by any chance be able to upload an editable file too?
Hi Alisha! I'm going to upload a PPT version that you can edit. :)
This is great but there are questions on this worksheet to grammar they have not learned yet until Unit 2 because (NHZ2) this would be a good review activity after wrapping up both units.
Students can express their answers in a sentence form that they already know. It could simply be an exercise for them to be able to use their current language skills to express their thoughts and ideas :) It could also be a way to give them some confidence in their conversation skills. (Example: Why do you want to visit Korea? I like KPOP.) And then these answers could be refined in the next Unit, as you have mentioned.
I would love to get a copy of the docx i could edit :) I love the graphics, and was thinking of adapting to a 'study abroad' version
This is a huge help! I will edit some parts and words since these could be considered difficult English for the JHS students. But it's a great concept!
