I was inspired by @unoplusunoistu to share my favorite short manga with my kids! I love the idea of kids getting interested in reading because of fun manga~ I might re-use it for my Halloween English board because the art is horror-esque.
My Japanese isn't perfect but my JTE and friends helped with highlighting. Let me know if you see any changes that need to be made!
"The Story of How I Found My Cat" is a twitter manga series that is super fun to read and uses pretty basic English/Japanese in the first chapter (3 pages). I highlighted the key words and taped the translation on top of the original manga so kids could flip between them!
How To:
Print all pages on A3, cut out translated text boxes on the first page and tape them to the original manga pages (3 pages).
Honestly it could probably be used in high school too~ It's not a super mainstream manga so none of my kids knew it when they first saw it! They all like to play with the text boxes during the breaks and after class!
Always look forward to your posts! Thank you for this <3
I think there may be a mistake with one line. "Eye" needs to be plural in the sentence, "Its eye are covered in gunk."
@Vaderade You are right! I tried to fix it but I couldn't figure out what font the scan-lators were using. So it all looks a bit wonk when I try. Maybe they got confused cause the kitten version looks like it has 2 eyes but the adult version only has 1? Thanks for catching it though
This is great. Thanks for sharing it and especially thanks for the idiot proof instructions - I always need them. I hope you will post more of these!
This is awesome! Thanks so much!
Did you ever make a part 2? I currently have this pop-up on our October board and the students love it!
@hall1428 Yes~ I made one recently for the following chapter. It's hyperlinked under the "Inspired:" section above and called "Manga Pop Up - Eng Board"
Wow! How coincidental! Thank you so much!!!!
