Birthday Cards

Students create birthday cards for their friends and use "When is your birthday?" and "What do you want for your birthday?"

I put this together specifcally for Blue Sky Elementary Grade 5, Unit 2 on Birthdays.

Step 1: Have students pick out a card

(I found this website with foldable cards for free! Link: https://www.printbirthday.cards/)

Step 2: Students choose who they make a card for.

Step 3: Students ask that student "When is your birthday?" and they write the date in the card.

Step 4: Students ask that student "What do you want for your birthday?" and they write the response and draw a picture of it in the card.

Step 5: When they are done, they give the card to the students and say "Happy Birthday!"

This activity is super simple and lets them use creativity. Let them have fun with it! They can write notes to their friend or anything else they think of.

This is great, will be trying it out. Minor tip though, make sure to assign every student a partner to ensure that everyone gets to give and receive a card. It would be unpleasant if some students were completely overlooked while others had piles of cards.

Yes! We ended up doing that, and we even made a class card for the homeroom teacher with extra time and materials.

Haha that's cool. Including the teacher was a nice touch.
